axial

Axial planning

  • Cover from the axilla through the entire breast.
  • Align the acquisition orthogonally.

Breast axial planning

Source slide: 100. Planning guide slide labeled BREAST CENTER AT T7 / Axial.

axial

Dynamic postcontrast processing

  • Acquire each contrast phase at approximately 1 minute in length.
  • Perform subtraction for the postcontrast axial sequence.

sagittal

Sagittal reformat

  • MPR the first contrast phase as sagittal images from the axial projection.
  • Use 1.5 mm slice thickness and 1.0 mm gap for the sagittal reformat.

MIP and spin processing

  • MIP and spin the first contrast phase subtraction bilaterally, left, and right.
  • Spin bilateral, left, and right MIP views from the coronal projection to create axial spin views.
Anatomic extentCoverage RulesMinimum coverage expectations and alignment rules.

axial

Axial field of view

Cover from the axilla through the entire breast.

axial

Axial alignment

Align the axial acquisition orthogonally.

axial

Dynamic timing

Each contrast phase is approximately 1 minute in length.

Perform subtraction for postcontrast axial sequence.
Conditional workflowSpecial SituationsAdjustments for contrast, hardware, and protocol-specific conditions.

Implant rupture evaluation

  • Use the dedicated breast implant rupture protocol rather than the routine breast MRI protocol.

Prior breast MRI available

  • Make the most recent prior breast MRI available for comparison during breast post-processing review.
